Social Studies
Social studies is the "integrated study of the social sciences and humanities to promote civic competence," as defined by the U.S. American National Council for the Social Studies. Mayville Jr/Sr High School Social Studies promotes the growth of knowledge and understanding as to what it means to be a citizen, functioning in our American society and within our ever changing world. We prepare students to participate in an increasingly diverse and global society.
Three credits of Social Studies is required for graduation, including these courses: U.S. History (1 credit), World Cultures (1/2 credit); Civics-Government (1/2 credit)
Elective courses: Medieval History; Sociology; Race and Gender; Global Issues; Law & Justice; AP Microeconomics; AP Macroeconomics; AP Psychology; AP U.S. History
